The Project

More than a third of the Grande Région is covered by forests, which are a major source of timber and is home to many of the key people involved in its processing. In the face of climate change, the profile of the forest is changing and so are the resources available for processing.

  • What measures can be put in place to connect producers and processors?
  • How can we maintain the growth of economic activities in which the conservation of resources in the Grande Région is a priority?

Grande Région’s various authorities share a desire to support the development of a high-performance local timber industry based on maintaining and relocating the value chain within the region, while increasing the use of timber, which has an excellent ecological balance sheet and a significant capacity to store carbon, particularly in construction.

  • develop concerted cross-border strategies
  • encourage exchanges among professionals working in the timber sector in Grand Région;
  • strengthen cooperation within and between sectors
  • support businesses through innovation and digital technology
  • ensure the relocation of processing and the use of timber in construction
